July is when we feel the heat and energy from the Sun in an intense capacity. What better flower to embody this than Helianthus, otherwise known as the Sunflower. The Sunflower is evocative of happiness, solar power, health, vitality, power, radiance, and strength.
Another way of thinking about the Sunflower and it’s “magic” is through The Sun Card in the Rider Waite Tarot deck. This card represents unbridled optimism and vitality that comes with embracing your true self in all its glory. It’s the daybreak after a long, dark night, and the strength to face the new day with fresh eyes. Honestly, I think we could all benefit from this prespective at moment.
I have done something a little unusual in this bouquet in that I am pairing the sunflower with “summer weeds” going out into my garden, or sourcing them locally to be paired with the sunflowers. It is my thought that whatever “weeds” make it into the bouquet to compliment the Sunflowers, that will be exactly what is needed. Through your proximity to sunflowers, you can absorb their potent and vitalizing energy. Sunflowers can also aid in focus, strength, and determination or if you want to gain or exercise your autonomy and authority. Use this Sunflower Energy to positively shift the balance of power in any group situation.
